Opting out of the vacciNATION

Whenever I get chatting with parents about babies and health, one of the biggest jaw dropping topics always involves my decision to opt out of having my child vaccinated.

I’d like to explore further the reasons why I made this choice, not to justify but rather to inform and iron out any doubts you may have when faced with this decision for your own child.

Firstly, my research covered all the usual NHS and pro-vaccination information which I will not cover here, primarily because you will surely have easy access to this as long as you are registered with a doctor.

The information I will present comes from a culmination of reading from the likes of Henry Lindlahr in ‘The philosophy of natural therapeutics’ and also ‘A shot in the dark’ by Harris L Coulter and Barbara Loe Fisher. You won’t find these books in your NHS sponsored bumpf.

The conventional argument for the wonders of vaccinations will now be considered in order to give the counter arguments.

1. Vaccinations are responsible for wiping out deadly diseases in the past, thereby saving many lives.

Diseases which have been wiped out in developed countries include: the bubonic plague, yellow fever and cholera. It is interesting to note that these diseases never had vaccination programmes put in place to help eliminate the problem. They began to disappear alongside the advent of  improved sanitation and hygiene. On the other hand diseases such as chickenpox and measles still occur frequently today despite vaccination programmes administered to high percentages of the population for quite some time now. The mentality which blames those unvaccinated few for spread of the disease is an interesting phenomenon in itself, if the vaccine is so effective for protection against the disease surely it is unnecessary to be concerned about ‘catching’ the disease from the ‘unprotected’.

2. Vaccinations work on the same principles as Homeopathy and function to strengthen the immune system

Homeopathic principals use small doses to ‘treat like for like’. There is such a minute amount of the disease taint administered in order that the body recognise the blue print for what protection it needs to take without being overwhelmed by toxins in such a quantity that it may seriously compromise the immune system. On the other hand vaccinations use like to prevent like, rather than to treat the invader before it has naturally entered the body. Furthermore, doses are many hundreds of times higher than used in homeopathy which has the knock on effect of compromising the immune systems overall protection capabilities against other potential invaders and diseases. This is why so many children suffer negative side effects such as skin eruptions and fevers soon after they have been vaccinated.

3. Vaccinations are suitable for all including vegetarians and vegans.

There has been much publicity in recent years surrounding the possible links with autism and the highly poisonous vaccination preservative,  Thimerosal aka Mercury, a known toxin to the human body.  Despite knowing this ingredient as a potential hazard you may be blissfully unaware of the other delights incorporated into the ingredients of your little one’s many jabs. Here’s what’s not written on your doctor’s appointment card or immunization leaflet…

vaccineingredients

(excerpt taken from http://www.opitslinkfest.blogspot.com)

Aluminium has been found to be toxic to the human body, Formaldehyde is a component of carpet glue, and Monosodium Glutamate or MSG is a flavour enhancer which often causes food intolerance reactions such as migraine headaches.

4. Statistics support the safety of vaccines.

Statistics show that 97 per cent of all infants who die from SIDS had a vaccination within 24 hours.

(extracted from The book of herbal wisdom by Matthew Wood, p.431)

5. Vaccines do not cause allergic reactions in a large percentage of individuals.

My child is a ‘highly sensitive child’ as are at least 20% of the population. These children are highly susceptable to allergic reactions from environmental and other toxins entering their systems, often culminating in severe allergic reactions. If at least one fifth of the population are at a higher risk of suffering severe side effects then this in my opinion is an unacceptable risk. Here is just one of many tragic stories of an infant who lost their life to a vaccine: http://www.iansvoice.org/

See link for possible vaccine side effects: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/side-effects.htm

One final point to note specific to parents of daughters. In recent times there has been a steady increase of numbers of women unable to successfully breastfeed their babies. This true story which can be read in Henry Lindlahr’s book under the section on vaccination may be of interest to those who wish that their daughters grow up and have a healthy feeding relationship with their young…

‘When smallpox broke out in sheep in parts of Scotland some time ago the sheep were mass vaccinated. Over the course of the following few years the ewes (female sheep) were unable to nourish their lambs sufficiently. With discontinuance of the vaccination, this phenomenon ceased to exist. This incident suggests a strong correlation between the incidence of female mammary gland atrophy (milk ducts drying up) and vaccination usage.

Another interesting Henry Linddlahr fact which you may find useful when considering vaccination for your children: ‘The blood of children is hereditarily contaminated with vaccines back to the third and sometimes fourth generations’….that’s a lot of vaccine in one body don’t you think!

So there’s just a few reasons why I said no to  vaccination. Along with my heart-felt instinct that I’d be somehow cheating my child who trusts me dearly. I simply could not ignore the warning bells sounding in my head and arising as a vague and uncomfortable feeling of dread and fear.

What may you ask would I do then if my child contracted one of these diseases?

Well firstly I would visit a homeopathic practitioner to ease the symptoms using a ‘like CURES like’ principal and secondly I rest assured in the knowledge that because of the general advancement in health care, it is now very rare that anyone is permanently damaged from contracting such childhood diseases. Furthermore, I continue to do my utmost to build his immune system using natural, raw living foods, juices and herbs and steer clear of food chemicals, refined sugars, dairy, meat and processed grains…more about diet and natural health promotion to follow in other blogs.

NB: since writing this blog my child has contracted both Scarlet fever and Chicken Pox. We used solely natural methods for managing the symptoms whilst his body healed itself and this resulted in a non-traumatic and speedy recovery. Since then his health has been exceptionally good.

So if your kid gets measles b/c you didn’t vaccinate him, and you take him to the dr, and there is a newborn baby there, and you infect the newborn and the newborn dies because its still too young to get a vaccination, how will you feel then? I guess as long as it’s okay for your child then screw the others, eh?

    • adeleyonline October 25, 2013 at 2:57 pm #

I don’t take my child to the doctors, neither does he attend a daycare or educational establishment. I would also like to add that vaccinated children can and often do also contract the disease and carry it, making them at risk to spread also.

What about the children who die from the vaccine itself or the 70 million vaccine injured children?? Measles is a rash that goes away on its own. One in a thousand has an adverse reaction from the actual illness. There was 126 cases of it in the US last year I challenge you to find a kid whos died from it in the last 10 years living in the US. Parent like you are destroying the lives and health of your kids because of your own stupid fears. You people are the dumbest of the dumb. I want you to read what the actual insert says the side effects are. http://www.naturalnews.com/048383_measles_outbreak_Disneyland_vaccine_inserts.html

I hope the readers of this (as im sure the poster is aware) should understand nothing in the above post is fact or based in any empirical type of measurement or a scientific experiment. Specifically the bit about the lambs, in order to quantify or prove imperically the implied statement ( or even to use the posters words “strong correlation” which imply scientific validity) one woild have to do more than simply assume that between 2 generations of lambs one being vaccinated and the subsequent not that the only variable change is the vaccine is both ignorant and iresponcible.

Furthermore it should be said that the SIDS stat is from first world countries with well established vaccination programs so it would stand to reason that if the majority of the population in the sample are vaccinated at birth then SIDS death would be mostly in vaccinated children. Its not a indicator of the vaccine its simple probability.
If your going to post advice backed up with evidence make sure its truthfully. Lives could be at steak

Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor and do not wish to give advice as a medical professional. I do however give my own research and opinions based on my experience and study of this subject. Too often the medical community portray only one side of the case for vaccination, I simply put the other side across to give people a balanced view.

What would you do if your child contracted polio? How well do you think any treatment homeopathic or otherwise would work?

    • adeleyonline October 25, 2013 at 2:55 pm #

My child has already had scarlet fever and also chicken pox. I treat all disease holistically without drugs and understand it is the terrain, not the germ that causes the issue. I would therefore treat with herbs, food and other methods supporting the body’s natural healing channels. I believe such healing crises such as childhood diseases are beneficial for cleansing the body of toxic overload.

  5. ChristaCarol October 25, 2013 at 4:47 am #

I’m sorry, but first, it is called Thimerosal, not Thimersal…if you are going to share your input from personal “research”, at least spell it correctly. I will hit more on this in a second. I apologize for any bluntness, but I feel I need to share my own insight to this issue coming from my perspective. One of my children was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia……she has undergone a 2.5 year treatment plan, and is now considered a survivor at 4 1/2 years old. What does this have to do with your post? The fact that, it’s non-vaccinated children that pose a risk to my child, whose immune system is still working to get back to normal. Pertussis, Measles, even the Chicken Pox pose a threat (because she’s been unable to get vaccines since treatment due to them possibly affecting how her chemo treatments work with the cancer cells in her body) and STILL EXIST. Why do these diseases still exist? They come from other countries. Countries that don’t have the medical knowledge and accessibility that we do here (I’m in America, btw). So when someone travels to one of these countries, and returns to our country, they may not catch it because of being vaccinated, but could pass it to someone who IS NOT vaccinated. Those being: 1. babies that haven’t been vaccinated for certain things yet due to the vaccination schedule, 2. older children that require a booster vaccine because at a certain age, the original wears off, 3. Children whose parents NEVER vaccinated them, 4. Older citizens, who may have never gotten the new vaccinations, 5. Children like mine, who have a deficient immune system AND have not had all of their vaccines yet due to cancer treatment.

Pertussis is on a come back. MEASLES is on a come back (this measles outbreak was close to my home, due to church-going folk who believed FAITH over FEAR, and when they came back from out of country, spread the measles! I am all about God, but I also believe He is responsible for our medical conventions today that protect us….whose to say they are not answers to long ago prayers for health?? http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/12/health/worst-measles-year/index.html), and largely due to this new societal belief that vaccines are bad for our children. It started with Autism (which by the way, is not linked to vaccines, as even stated by Autism Speaks (http://www.autismspeaks.org/science/policy-statements/information-about-vaccines-and-autism), and is now continuing to grow.

Sure, I hate the pharmaceutical companies. I feel they are a great big greedy bunch. But what I dislike even more are people who make decisions they think are informed, when in fact, they are not. It’s irresponsible. If you were living far away from everyone else, than I’d be a little less upset about it, but the fact people making these decisions are affecting OTHER peoples children….to me, that’s just not okay.

That picture you put on your blog was from 2010 (about the ingredients). Thimerasol is no longer in our vaccines, at least not here in the U.S.A. From the FDA “all vaccines routinely recommended for children 6 years of age or younger and marketed in the U.S. contain no thimerosal or only trace amounts (1 microgram or less mercury per dose), with the exception of inactivated influenza vaccine, which was first recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in 2004 for routine use in children 6 to 23 months of age.” http://www.fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVaccines/Vaccines/QuestionsaboutVaccines/UCM070430

So, perhaps at one point in time, these vaccines had a lot of “nasty” things in them (sometimes it takes nasty to kill/prevent nasty) but the FDA has heard peoples concerns and is working towards finding alternative ways. And I’m sorry, but if you get the measles, or pertussis, I want to urge you to find medical help. You can try herbal, homeopathic remedies for sure (I am big on essential oils, I’m by no means black and white when it comes to these things) but this stuff is LIFE THREATENING, especially to young children. Homeopathic is great. But think about way back when, and the death rate, and the life expectancy….it wasn’t very good numbers. One of the main things that has changed since then is medicine, doctors, and treatments via medicines.

My daughter just finished her very long chemotherapy treatment plan, and I am 100% planning to have her caught up on her vaccines within the next year and a half. But I am nervous for her when she goes in public, attends preschool, tries to do the normal things kids her age should do, because of this ever-growing thought that vaccines are bad, and parents choosing not to vaccinate their child, therefore posing a risk to MINE and other people’s little babies. There is a reason chicken pox and measles haven’t been around for a long time. They didn’t “die out”, they’ve been prevented…by VACCINES. But people, like you (sorry, no offense), are helping them make a come back.

I’m glad for you that you are passionate and want to stand for something such as being natural, but exhaust all resources in research first before making a decision that can affect more than just your child.

    • adeleyonline October 25, 2013 at 4:58 pm #

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am sorry you and your little one have suffered so much, I sympathise with how hard it is to see your child suffer as mine is a highly sensitive child and during the first 12 months of life he also suffered more than the average child from problems related to a mould allergy and general sensitivities to the environment. Sleep was rare and crying was common place for us alongside asthma attacks and intense digestive troubles. I believe that disease is created in the body due to the internal terrain rather than the germ and this is why I adopt holistic health care for myself and my family. My child has contracted both chicken pox and scarlet fever in his first two years of life, measles is also making a come back here in the UK. I feel that I can only be responsible for the health of my own child, not other people’s and I use food and herbs alongside other holistic remedies to manage my child’s health concerns. I chose not to vaccinate my child for many reasons, his highly sensitive constitution being a big factor in my decision. I believe there are NO acceptable levels of poisonous substances such as mercury in a vaccine but do respect other people’s decision to chose to vaccinate their child and know that like myself, they have not taken the decision lightly. Best wishes for your daughters recovery.

Thank you. I also noticed in some of your comments that you do not have him in school or around a lot of other children, which then isn’t running a risk for other kiddos to be at risk. Sorry he’s had to go through so much as well. It’s never fun to see your babies sick. Best of luck with your holistic approach. We definitely have different beliefs, but I can still respect yours. He sure is a cute kiddo 🙂

The germs are what cause the issue. Terrain is not. This is basic, irrefutable fact. We have known for hundreds of years, as a collective population on the entire earth, that infections are caused by germs.

It is your responsibility to be a decent citizen, and that includes making sure your child does not infect others like the story shared above. Knowingly posing a hazard to other people’s health is outlandish. If you had a cold, would you just go around coughing on people, sneezing on them, doing things to increase the chance that they would get infected as well? Because after all, it’s not YOUR responsibility.

The ‘trace substances’ that you might find in vaccines are just like any other poisonous substances that you’ll find in the dirt that grows your food. Hell, even apple seeds contain a cyanide compound. And I would assume that you and your family have consumed apples sometime in your lives. There are trace amounts of everything, everywhere and that doesn’t mean they are anywhere near as dangerous as the diseases that we have nearly eradicated thanks to vaccines. Our bodies are meant to clear out toxins and excess chemicals that we don’t need and they do that extremely efficiently.

And finally, the only reason you have to question vaccines stemmed from an article published in the Lancet in 1998 which first posited that vaccines are harmful to children. That article, and all subsequent ‘supporting research’ is now known to be false if not completely fraudulent. The article was fully and completely retracted in 2010, and all of the people still anti-vaccination, including yourself, are actively putting people at risks FAR greater than the extremely low amounts of “poison” that might be found in vaccinations.

Science is a real thing, not a hoax intended to control you and kill your children. I promise. It works whether you want it to or not, thank goodness.

      • adeleyonline October 27, 2013 at 2:26 pm #

Thanks for your interesting comments. Firstly, society has believed a lot of things in the past which weren’t true, such as ‘the world is flat’. Scientific paradigms can and do change frequently. The most logical argument to support Robert Bechamp’s theory that ‘it is the terrain not the germ that causes disease’ aside from the fact that Louis Pasteur recognised this on his death bed, is the fact that everyone would contract the disease who came into contact with it but they do not. It is my responsibility to educate parents with the other side of the arguments so they can make informed decisions based on the main stream knowledge thy have obtained and “alternative” view points. With regards to your point about cyanide in apple seeds, this is very different to the poison placed into man made drugs in isolation from it’s naturally occurring constituents . Cyanide in it’s whole food complex is protected from causing harm to the consumer by the other naturally occurring components of the plant, just as it is in apricot kernals, a superfood which helps combat cancer due to the vitamin B17. Finally, scientific researchers must sometimes ‘retract’ their publications if they go against popular opinion at the time, or else they risk losing their prestigous titles and well paid jobs. We must also always ask ‘who funded the research and what are their motives?’ I think emergency medical care for such traumas as road accidents and also, science in general are amazing but we do need to consider such factors as the observer effect as demonstrated in this famous scientifically sound experiment

      • Hanna October 29, 2013 at 1:30 pm #

Adele, people are differentially infected based on their own cellular and molecular makeup. For example, there are people who are exposed to HIV and don’t contract it because they lack the cellular protein that HIV must bind to in order to invade the cell. They lack this protein because they have a genetic mutation that makes it so that they do not produce the protein. They either inherited that mutation or it happened spontaneously in the egg or sperm. Louis Pasteur was noting that different people must have different immune systems that give them an advantage against certain pathogens. He did NOT mean that it was because of the strength of their character and recant that germs cause disease. Germs cause disease but our immune systems dictate how our body responds to them. Believing germs cause illness is not like the belief that the earth is flat because once someone tested that position onyl ONE TIME they realized they were wrong, but testing if germs cause illness has been tested and proved to be correct over and over and over again. I know you probably think as a government employed scientific fellow that I’m working for a lobby or big pharma, but that’s crazy because we don’t even do science that they can use. I make $50,000 a year and we don’t get perks besides 2 weeks of vacation and an insanely short maternity leave (I get 2 months!! Isn’t that awful?!?). We’re prohibited from receiving cash or gifts worth more than $20 from any outside entity. I am a scientist because I’m curious not because I make money. In labs at the NIH the only strings attached to the money you get for research is to do some of the more risky experiments that might not work out because people at universities can’t afford to do that with the tiny budget they receive from the government. I agree that pharma and lobbyists influence US health POLICY, but they do not influence the basic laboratory science done at research institutions because there is NO MONEY in basic science.

      • adeleyonline October 29, 2013 at 2:10 pm #

I think science is a great tool, just incomplete. If we could only learn to marry together science which can verify the tangible with ancient wisdom and spirituality which explores the intangible, such as quantum physics is beginning to finally do, then we will have a much more balanced picture of what is actually happening. I suggest you watch the following documentary to understand further what I am trying to say here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMNaPmmuHCs
We could go around in swings and roundabouts debating this topic all day but essentially it easy to misinterpret scientific studies and give a biased conclusion, just as it easy to twist someone’s final words such as Louis Pasteur and bend it towards your stance.
His actual words were I quote… “It’s the terrain, not the germ.”
This clearly defines that it’s not the bacteria or the viruses themselves that produce the disease, it’s the chemical by-products and constituents of these microorganisms enacting upon the unbalanced internal, malfunctioning cell metabolism of the human body that in actuality produce disease. If the body’s cellular metabolism and pH is perfectly balanced ie. in optimal health, it is susceptible to no illness or disease. I am sorry you have such a bad deal in your job, a sad reflection of an unfeeling industry.

      • Hanna October 29, 2013 at 3:20 pm #

I totally agree with you that it’s incredibly important to eat a nutrient dense plant based diet (I’m a vegan too) and to promote health through exercise and stress reduction to support a healthy body. I even agree with you that a lot of illness can be managed naturally. For example, I will not take antibiotics unless I have a clear and demonstrable infection that persists more than 2 weeks. Instead, I drink apple cider vinegar, eat garlic, take tinctures of oregon grape root extract and oregano, take ginseng and evening primrose oil and other natural substances that have proven antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. If that doesn’t work I go to the doctor. Natural substances can indeed be effective for some things, but aren’t often promoted or studied because they can’t be patented or controlled in the market, so they don’t get the attention they would if a company could manufacture them. That’s not because the company necessarily sways the research, it’s just that when something will be marketed to the public as a drug, scientists have to check the safety and mechanism of action to make sure it’s safe and effective enough for distribution, not because they are swayed to give the ok (a whole whole lot of drugs fail the unbiased government tests). Drugs are mostly approved because it’s decided that the benefits could outweigh the cost/side-effects for many people. When Pasteur said it’s the terrain he didn’t mean emotional fortitude, he meant health and state of the body upon contact with a pathogen, which is true a lot of the time. If you’re healthier, your body will be more effective at removing the pathogen. it’s definitely true for a lot of bugs (colds, mold, most of our gut bacteria), but some big bad bugs can overwhelm even the healthiest most enlightened of bodies unless those bodies are special due to a random genetic mutation which gives them an advantage against a particular pathogen. I’d like to make it clear that I don’t get paid a lot not because of an unfeeling industry (I don’t work for industry!) but because the unfeeling tax payers in the US have messed up priorities that focus resources on war.

      • adeleyonline October 29, 2013 at 4:13 pm #

It’s been really interesting debating with you, this is going to have to be my last one as I’m so busy responding to an influx of comments at the moment. I do believe that all disease has an emotional root in the mind which manifests in the body but I was not implying that that’s what Pasteur was saying, simply that he was stating the physical health of the body will be the factor which dictates whether an individual falls prey to a disease or not. Ultimately though we have no right to believe we fully understand what the man was trying to convey in his last words, only he can ever know that. I also believe that no disease is different or exempt from self-healing as we work HOLISTICALLY as an organism and so you must treat the individual as a whole, not as separate mechanical parts as medical science so often does. Disease isn’t a random attack in my opinion, it comes to teach us lessons in our life which, if we will take the time to listen, will help us grow and evolve. p.s I wasn’t referring to your pay, more to the shocking length of maternity leave of course!

Before you spout off at people who don’t wish to poison their kids, please read what the actual insert for this vaccine says. First off it contains the LIVE measles virus which means you can get it from the vaccine and spread it to other people. Second its also increases your chances of getting autism and thats not a rash that goes away, that for LIFE. Oh and per the insert 10% of the people who receive it have adverse side affects that are straight up god awful, like becoming paralyzed. Dont believe me it, read it. Last year there were 126 cases of measles, which is basically a rash with a fever that resolves itself on its own 99.99% of the time. Hardly an epidemic but 1 in 42 kids getting autism from this vaccine is an epidemic. I swear you pro poison parents just kill me. http://www.naturalnews.com/048383_measles_outbreak_Disneyland_vaccine_inserts.html

// I am not a medical practitioner and do not intend to give medical advice //

Yet that’s what you are doing, and your advice runs contrary to proven medical science, and indeed common sense.

#2 is just plain wrong, they do not use the “same principals”, modern vaccines carry no payload whilst otherwise being a sizeable dose, but homoeopathy is a vastly diluted mixture containing a tiny, yet active payload. The former demonstrably triggers an auto-immune response, the latter doesn’t. We can measure the efficacy of vaccinations, whereas homoeopathy appears only effective as a placebo.

As a Brit, I’m genuinely interested in discussing this with you further.

    • adeleyonline October 25, 2013 at 3:11 pm #

Homeopathy works on the principals ‘like cures like’ as do vaccines in my understanding and that was what I was suggesting. You are right that they work slightly differently, vaccines try to prevent the disease before it has occurred whilst homeopathy deals with the disease once it has been contracted. Placebo is an interesting phenomenon and one could say that drugs as well as homeopathy are also likely to work due to the belief factor. Thank you also for highlighting the need for me to add a disclaimer, I thought I had already done so and will now add one.

  7. KateF October 28, 2013 at 11:58 pm #

Do you intend to eventually enroll Ulysses in a school in a public realm, say outside of your own home? From my understanding, children are typically required (well, at least in the US) to be vaccinated for a number of diseases such as chickenpox, MMR, and tetanus. Even if you intend for your son to be home schooled up until college age, wouldn’t he still be exposed to said diseases? Since you seem very informed on this topic and have clearly educated yourself regarding vaccines, don’t you hope for Ulysses to one day attend a university where he could become an educated adult where he will subsequently be exposed to a wide range of illnesses? Although some natural remedies do have their benefits, I do believe homeopathy to be a supplement to hospital treatment (i.e. vaccinations, surgeries). What is your plan for Ulysses future health? What if Ulysses unfortunately did contract one of these illnesses?

Also, this article from the CDC does claim that there is not sufficient evidence to prove that vaccinations attribute to SIDS. Where do you draw your information on?http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/sids.html

    Thank you!

    • KateF October 29, 2013 at 12:04 am #

My current view is that those who do not vaccinate their children mainly rely on the compliance of others to do so. What is your opinion on that matter? Hoping you can contribute a different opinion to the discussion on childhood vaccinations. Again, thank you!

      • adeleyonline October 29, 2013 at 7:21 am #

I do not believe this is true. Many vaccinated individuals can and do still spread the diseases that they have been immunised against. I believe that people who chose not to vaccinate rely on taking responsibility for keeping themselves healthy by natural means and also by embracing acute disease outbreaks as an important and necessary detoxification process for the body to heal itself.

    • adeleyonline October 29, 2013 at 7:29 am #

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I live in the Uk where thankfully we do not yet have such restrictive rules that impinge on human rights for freedom of choice. I do however plan to educate Ulysses outside of institutions whilst he is young, he may chose to try school, college or university as he grows up and this will be his decision. I concentrate on keeping Ulysses as healthy as possible knowing that I cannot protect him in a bubble away from other individuals. As mentioned before I really don’t use homeopathy much, it is just on option should he contract a disease when his immune system is over stressed. I appreciate you sending this article but I see it is from a government website which makes me doubt the validity of the information presented as governments are highly influenced from big Pharma and lobbyists. Many thanks

  8. Clover8 October 29, 2013 at 3:07 am #

If your child was diagnosed with Leukemia like ChristaCarol’s daughter would you still choose homeopathy over modern medicine?

    • adeleyonline October 29, 2013 at 7:16 am #

I believe that modern medicine does not have the answers for dealing with cancer, therefore this would not be my choice of dealing with such a disease. I do not use homeopathy as a main modality for healing in my family, it is just one option. I do respect those people’s choices who feel they must use modern medicine to deal with chronic diseases and I also feel that they should be made aware of all the options available to them including complimentary and alternative therapies which do not have such dangerous ‘side effects’. The path I have chosen to walk requires the individual to take complete responsibility for their own actions and healing and so is not necessarily suitable for everyone. Alternative health care requires us to let go of fear and trust our own body’s innate wisdom to heal itself given the right conditions and this concept can be very difficult for many people to have faith in.

I love your advice, and will be doing the same with my future children. I was wondering if you could post (or if you already have posted) some herbal remedies you use for common child sickness, like chickenpox or fever, I’m very interested in herbal remedies and use some on myself already, but never experienced these methods with a baby before. Herbal sickness recipes would be amazing.

    Thanks!

Hi, I will definately have at look at putting something together. It might be a while before I post though. In the mean time I have found camu camu berry powder (rich in vitamin c) to be highly effective at bringing down a fever to safe levels when mixed a s a drink in water for an infant. Have you also ‘liked’ my facebook page as I often post useful remedies and links to interesting books and documentaries on such topics.

It will be awhile before I have a baby! lol I will stay updated, can’t wait for the updates. I have liked you facebook page, but I haven’t looked around on it…I’ll have to do that!

        Thanks again Adele

It’s weird how all the media attention hasn’t translated to any additional Facebook Likes for you or Twitter followers. Maybe that says something?

I am not about quantity, more quality and my intention is to spread the natural birth message not gain popularity. I have actually got some new followers for your information on both twitter and facebook, .The world is fast asleep, you must understand and many people do not wish to be woken. Do only write back if you have something intelligent to say. Thank you

@Adele, So true…some people can’t reach enlightenment simply because they refuse to “wake up”. These people are missing out on manifesting true happiness, but some also say this is the Age of Enlightenment…I have hope that this will happen for all in the future and I personally think quality over quantity is always the best option. Glad you’re blogging and giving people like me tips and advice on mama naturally. 😉

If only all these close minds came with close mouth, your blog is one of my favorites! Thank you so much for making awareness to a lot of topics, I hope to be able to raise my children with the same values.

You believe in a free country but yet feel that it is important to force parents to make choices they don’t want to make due to your irrational fear of “what if” ? I’m sorry to be rude, but where is the freedom coming into play? If you “force me” to do something because you think “I” am going to cause a problem, then you don’t believe in freedom, you believe in communism. Forcing people to be “vaccinated” against their will is against freedom. Whether you like it or not.

So because you don’t “believe” in using medicines (I’m guessing not even penicillin, even though it’s derived from a naturally occurring fungus), you let your child’s easily treatable case of strep throat progress to Scarlet Fever (leading cause of death in children before the discovery of penicillin). Now, your sweet little boy carries a lifetime risk for kidney disease, rheumatic heart disease, and arthritis. Good going. There’s a reason that people died at 35-40 before modern medicine, because DISEASE KILLS PEOPLE. Modern medicine combats disease. I had a case of strep throat just a few weeks ago. I took penicillin and guess what happened? I GOT BETTER, FAST. It boils my blood imagining a sick little boy in pain and a mother shoving maple syrup and plant pollen or whatever else down his throat when there are medicines proven to cure him and relieve his pain and fever. Pure child abuse if you ask me.
